1.) Tackey & Tsubasa: SAMURAI (Single) ★★★★☆ 4/5
(More dynamic than x~dame/Crazy Rainbow, it's really good & fun to sing to 'cuz it comes with a karaoke track. :D)

New Reviews for August! (/^0^)/

mood: =______= =______=
music: Crystal Letter: リエントールアンソイ

August is a very, very good month for music. ^^/

I'm very sleepy right now, so tomorrow I will post the rest of the new August releases, and also re-up some of the Ayabie stuff. (^u^)/

. o O๑『 ♠NEW UPLOADS♠』 ๑O o .
(Some of these are from late July but whatevar. :P)

1.) Guy's Family - Triple Nine 999 [Single]
My Rating: ★★★★★★ 6/5 stars (+1 for added win!)

Track Listing
>Downright Answer

OMG! NEED MOAR GUY'S FAMILY! 8] They only have two other singles besides this one and an omnibus track out but damn, these guys are good. Knight has amazingly strong vocals that really make an impression throughout the single. As a whole this single has a very tight sound, and neither the vocals or instrumentals overpower each other. I LOVE all three tracks to death and HIGHLY recommend this, even if you loathe visual kei this is an excellent release. They're not heavy gothic, nor are they cutesy...I can't really think of anyone to compare them to at the moment. :/ But yea, GET THIS NOW!!!!! (^0^)b *thumbs up of approval*

2.) Kaya - Hyakki Yagyou [Mini-Album]
My Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Track Listing
>Ouka - Hyakkirappuhen

Five tracks of lovely, lovly win! Yay Kaya! I'm happy there's finally some new stuff from him! This mini has his usual ethereal electronic stylings, only this time they're blended with a traditional Japanese anagura feel. It turns away from the uber-gothic feel for the most part, a few tracks sound a bit more industrial. The instrumentals are clear, pure, and polished; Kaya's beautiful voice resonates on the tracks. This is a very varied release and the music has so much depth, it definitely won't put you to sleep. Some fast and slow stuff, no instrumental tracks. This is definitely a mini to have, especially if you're a Kaya fan. Recommended if you like Kozi, Schwarz Stein, Hora, or classical/dance music.

3.) 宇宙戦隊NOIZ - Bad Music Freaks [Single]
My Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Track Listing

Usually, I'm not to partial to NOIZ. I haven't listened to them in a while, so I thought I'd give their new single a try. I'm impressed! I think they've improved a lot! Bouncy electronic music, with rock, rap, and rave elements thrown in. As chaotic as it sounds, the mixing on this single is kickass. It's good driving music; even the B-side is really good. ^_^ I kinda want to go to one of their lives now. ^u^/ NOIZ is definitely a distinct band in the current sea of identical visual kei bands. Recommended if you like 秘密結社コドモA or are looking for an interesting and different for your playlist.

4.) ORANGE RANGE - イケナイ太陽(Ikenai Taiyou) [Single]
My Rating: ★★★★☆ 4/5

Track Listing

Wow is this catchy! Shortly before the release of their two-disk self-titled BEST album this month, Orange Range surprised us with their new single Ikenai Taiyou. The track is featured on the best album along with tons of other fan favorites. Ikenai is a catchy, summer-y song that's fun to sing and gets stuck in your head easily. :P Orange Range leans away from their usual rock+rap routine and more towards a classic pop feel. It's a good *pop* song because it's free of the cliche bubblegum element. The only reason it's minus a star is because the B-side is an uber-crappy 6 minute bad karaoke remix of Ikenai. I would have liked another original song, or at least an instrumental version of Ikenai so I can sing it while I drive to work. ^0^/

4.) UVERworld - Shaka Beach ~Laka Laka La~ [Single]
My Rating: ★★★★☆ 4/5 stars

Track Listing
>Shaka Beach ~Laka Laka La~

Yay! UVERworld always makes me smile. Bouncy, happy music you can sing along to! The chorus from the title track is particularly infectious. (/^0^)/ Rainy is a ballad-ish song; it's not painfully slow which is nice. It's temo pairs well with the title song. The only track I didn't care much for was Sorrow; it didn't have a real order to it and it seemed more like an intro track. :/ I like this though; with the exception of Sorrow, it's a good single. ^u^ Pick up some UVERworld if you like w-inds., Tackey and Tsubasa, Arashi, or KAT-TUN.

5.)S M I L E - Zettai☆SUMMER
My Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Track Listing
>Zettai SUMMER
>I was Gay ~Kokuhaku~

I like S M I L E. They're average for an oshare band, but I like them none the less; they're cute. ^u^ The songs on here are in the general happy, pop-y oshare vein. The vocals are a little weak in some places, but still good. Royalty is my favorite song on the single, but I was Gay ~Kokuhaku~ is hysterical. The song begins like this: "IIIIIIIIII waaaaaaaaaaas gaaaaaaaaaaay x4 アレ? GAY! x7" I almost exploded from laughing so hard. :DDD Other than that, it's an average oshare release, but not crappy. I would have given it 4 out of 5 but the gay song is too much fun to sing. *sings*

6.) シド (SID) - 夏恋(Natsukoi) [Single]
My Rating: ★★★☆☆ 3/5 stars

Track Listing

Natsukoi is a nice song with a good pace. Happy without being bubblegum, but not enough rock for a guitar solo or anything like that. The song natsukoi is very summer-y and oshare sounding; it's also more reminiscent of the Hoshi no Miyako album, which was excellent. It actually reminds me a bit of S M I L E's 'Zettai Summer' but with stronger vocals. The B-side 'Propose' has more of a rock sound, but I didn't care for it that much. The guitars were unpleasant, and the vocals sounded and messy. 'Propose' sounds more like the stuff from SID's RenAi album, which I reeeeally didn't like. I really liked Natsukoi, but it's -2 stars because in truth I only liked half of the single, and I like 'Natsukoi' more than I dislike 'Propose'. :)

7.) Girugamesh - Reason of Crying [Mini Album]
My Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Track Listing
>Real my Place
>Crime -Tsumi-
>Omae Ni Sasageru Minikui Koe
>Dirty Blue Blood

Wow. Girugamesh really impressed me! I really liked them a lot before, but now I like them even more! =D Girugamesh moves toward more rhythmic compositions as opposed to OMG GRRRROWLY HEADBANG MYOOOOZIK GRAAAAAARRRR!!!! for a whole album (though their growly music is awesome too!) 'Freesia' caught my attention in particular; I didn't think Girugamesh could make a ballad this passionate but they did, and it totally wins. ^0^/ I liked this release a lot especially because of the variation in the tracks, and I hope their upcoming album kicks serious ass! :D

July Reviews! Yay!

Aug. 9th, 2007 | 07:01 pm
location: house
mood: (/^0^)/ (/^0^)/
music: Tokyo Love Story: Utada Hikaru

Sorry July reviews are late. (=___=)/ Will post new stuff for August right after this.*uploads things* ^o^

First of all, I decided to scrap the AILE review because I don't like them that much, and I got something better anyway. ^___^ If anyone does want the True Feather single from AILE, I'd be happy to post it for you anyway, just send me a message. On to the new stuffs! After you read the review, click the link underneath the text to download to the release. ^___^ Remember to say thank-you if you take things.

1.) Mix Speaker's, Inc. - Friday Night "MONSTIME"
★★★★★ - 5/5 stars

Track Listing
>Monster Start Instrumental
>Friday Night Busters
>Space Hunter
>赤い巻髪とネバーランド ~ Akai Makigami to Neverland

I've been dying for this. I love Psycho le Cemu, but Mix Speaker's, is by far my favorite post-PLC project. I'm happy to say there's not a bad song on the whole release, plus you get six whole new songs not featured on the Mix Speaker's, BOX single or the Cannonball No.3 omnibus cds. The opening track sets the haunted house theme for the rest of the release. All together it's enough rock with perfect synth touches added in here and there to keep to the theme paired with interesting lyrics. Miki (ex-SCISSOR) and Yuki's voices are an interesting combination of soft and rough with lovely harmonies in a few parts reminiscent of Psycho le Cemu. Mix Speaker's, makes use of agressive drums, frenzied guitar, and punchy bass lines; they sound remarkably tight in musical standards, no slacking anywhere. "MONSTIME" also features Mix Speaker's, first ballad, "If...". I wondered how a band like Mix Speaker's, could slow down enough to do a ballad, but it actually turned out to be my favorite song on the album; Yuki's voice is beautiful on the track and the instrumentals shine. It's a very lyrical song as well, plus with a piano piece in the beginning and a sweet, slow instrumental in the middle. If you like Psycho le Cemu, their side projects, or just visual kei in general, be sure to keep a tab on Mix Speaker's, Inc.

2.) D'espairsRay - Mirror
★★★★☆ - 4/5 stars

Track Listing
>Closer to Ideal

I was curious about this release. When [Coll:set] was released, I thought there's no way it could be topped. Mirror is a reeeally good album, but I think [Coll:set] better. Not to say D'espairsRay is slipping; Karyu's vocals were passionate, instrumentals were spot on and together, lyrics are good and everything is nicely executed. I just liked [Coll:set] better for some unconscious reason. >_< Mirror is a really good release. Only nine tracks, but still very good. It also contains the tracks featured on the 'Squall' single. I believe it's up to par according to the expectations set upon a major band such as D'espairsRay. I'm happy they haven't caught the 'good album, bad album, good album, bad album' or 'complete change of musical style' funk that a lot of major bands have seemed to be catching lately *coughGAZETTEcough*. Fans of more hardcore, less visual-pretty-boy stuff will love this. Chek it out especially if you like Dir en Grey, Sadie, Girugamesh, etc. It is goodness. ^^

3.) Tokyo Michael - Binume Metro
★★★☆☆ - 3/5 stars (right in the middle)

Track Listing
>Dai Kou Kiss...
>Kin no Uta [Kari]
>Mezama Shi Rock n' Roll
>Sou Hitokoto Tsutae Taidakenanoi

I kind of found this by accident, but I'm glad I did. Other than this release, I've heard nothing else by this band, but they're cute sounding. Some songs remind me of Shelly Trip Realize and some remind be of Remioromen. Definitely a happier alternative sound, but I doubt they're heavy visual. They sound good though; If I find more things by them, I'll be sure to post since I like them. ^^ Give them a try if you like Shelly Trip Realize (TINC), PANIC☆ch, or シリアル⇔NUMBER.

4.) Versailles - The Revnant Choir

Track Listing
>The Revnant Choir
>The Revnant Choir -Vocals Lesson-
>The Revnant Choir -Bass Lesson-
>The Revnant Choir -Drum Lesson-
>The Revnant Choir -Guitar Lesson-

FINALLY!!! The long awaited first release from Kamijo's (ex-LAREINE) new band! Also joining Kamijo are legendary guitarists Teru and HIZAKI formerly of Hizaki Grace Project. I adore both Hizaki and Kamijo and predicted correctly that this would be a particularly smexy release. The single is five songs: The Revnant Choir, followed by four different versions of the first original song. However, each remix is made to specifically highlight one specific element that blends into the main song: drums, guitar, bass, and vocals. At some parts in the main song the instrumentals do become a little overpowering, but the musicians are so skilled it's forgiveable. I think the single itself, especially the title song, is very 'epic' sounding for lack of a better word. Think Dream Theatre instrumental involvement at quadruple the speed here. Kamijo even sings most of it in English. The Revnant Choir as a song itself is amazing and I look forward to hearing more of them soon. If you like anything Hizaki, LAREINE, or Malice Mizer related, check these guys out. ^^

★★☆☆☆ - 2/5 stars (GAZEFAIL!)

Track Listing
>Ganges ni Akai Bara

(Yes, the tracks are all in caps on the album.-_-)I can't believe this album. It just...fails. I hated it. There were only two songs I *kinda* liked on the whole release. I'm extremely disappointed in GazettE right now; I couldn't believe this album. It was just so horrendous, it's difficult to describe. The intro reminds me vaguely of Marilyn Manson, Ruki attempts to rap resulting in sucky j-rapcore, and many of the songs had that annoying girly pop-singer voice intruding in the chorus or interlude. It sounded ok on the 'Filth in the Beauty' single but there's entirely TOO MUCH of it on the album. I feel it was a sloppy release; the instrumentals are ok, but I can't listen to the tracks all the way through. Ruki is hot, but now he REALLY needs to work on his voice; on "STACKED RUBBISH" it was waaaay weak. I seriously hope that their next release is as good as NIL or Disorder and that in the future, we can look back at STACKED RUBBISH as an experimental album. Currently, I think they're good for man-candy but that's about it. Sorry guys. :/
